“Severance” leads with 27 nominations

After being in eligibility limbo thanks to last year’s strikes, Severance is finally back in contention, and the TV Academy clearly missed it. With 27 nominations (nine in acting categories alone + Outstanding Drama Series), Apple TV+’s brain-bending workplace series is the most-nominated show of the year. Adam Scott and Britt Lower both earned lead acting nods, while Tramell Tillman and Zach Cherry joined a stacked supporting cast list. It’s a bit of a redemption arc. Season one lost out to Succession’s third season, which absolutely dominated that year’s awards conversation. But this year, Severance is getting the attention it deserved the first time around—and maybe even more.

Seth Rogen’s “The Studio” earned 23 noms—and might win him not one, two, three, but four separate Emmys

Seth Rogen created it, wrote it, directed it, and stars in it, and now, The Studio could win him four statues in one night. The Hollywood satire about a chaotic film exec’s unraveling may be a little too insider-y for casual viewers, but Emmy voters devoured it. Ten of its 23 nominations are for acting, including five of six guest actor slots. It’s also officially the most nominated freshman comedy in Emmys history, breaking the record previously held by ‘TED LASSO.’ Go Seth, go!

“The Penguin” dominated limited series with 24 noms

Who knew Gotham would be an Emmy hotbed? HBO’s The Penguin swept the limited series category, with Colin Farrell, Cristin Milioti, and director Helen Shaver all landing nominations. With 24 nominations total, it joins The White Lotus as a reminder that no one does “elevated IP” quite like HBO. Bonus: it’s actually good.

Harrison Ford got his first Emmy nom at age 83 (!!!)

Another Hollywood legend hitting a career capstone. Ford scored a supporting actor nom for Shrinking, playing the grumpy therapist (I love this show, BTW). It’s his first time being nominated by the TV Academy, and it’s long overdue. I always get inspired by late career milestones *tear*

The Bear and Hacks are back, but this year, they might get steamrolled
